Recruitment

By recruiting subjects primarily from our private group practice, we ensure enrollment of well-qualified patients. Our clinical relationship and familiarity with subjects creates enthusiasm about the studies and enhances our retention rate. We deliver information about new studies during office visits, both in waiting areas with posters, and in discussions in private exam rooms; and between visits thru direct mail informational letters.

For recruitment outside of our patient and research databases, our staff is experienced in multiple outreach methods, including newspaper, radio, internet, and TV ads. We offer sponsors our knowledge and expertise in the local advertising market when placing site-specific branded recruiting pieces with local media vendors as well as when sponsors choose to employ centrally managed campaigns. We regularly receive referrals from local physicians who are looking for investigational alternatives to approved but inadequate treatments for some of their patients.

NNSCR attends and supports local events with Alzheimer's disease and Multiple Sclerosis support groups which allows us to communicate information about new studies to patients and their friends, families and caregivers. For instance, we have participated in the Memory Walk, National Memory Screening Day, and the MS Walk for several years and plan to continue our support of these events. These gatherings provide opportunities to let newly diagnosed patients know about research and give them information on how to contact our site. Our attendance also keeps our research site in top of mind awareness for patients who have been treating their disease for some time and may be considering research studies.
