Research at NNS

Northwest NeuroSpecialists regularly participates in neuroscience research as part of our ongoing effort to improve care and enhance lives. Northwest NeuroSpecialists physicians are involved in numerous clinical studies; including drug, device, neurosurgical, and imaging trials. Trials and research allow our patients the opportunity to receive some of the most recent and innovative investigational treatments in neurological care, while building knowledge that will allow for advances in care in the future.

Practice patients who are interested in participating in research studies can choose to have information sent to them as new studies begin to recruit subjects. This also allows patients to learn more about what research is being done for their disease or disorder.

For the convenience of our patients, physicians and study sponsors, our dedicated clinical research site is in the same building as our neurology and neurosurgical practice. The research site includes a separate reception area for research subjects, 3 exam rooms, research laboratory, an infusion room, psychometrics office and testing area, coordinator offices, private monitoring room, locked and climate controlled drug storage and data storage.

Most required research procedures and evaluations can be performed at our site. This includes the informed consent process, physical examinations, neurological exams, neuropsychological testing, and ECG's. The majority of the procedures that must be conducted off site at specialty groups or the hospital are done at locations within a mile of our practice and research site.

Our full-time research site staff includes two certified clinical research coordinators, a full-time regulatory and contracts specialist, a psychometrician, and a research laboratory assistant. Additionally, we benefit from the consulting services of a nationally recognized MS expert neurologist; two PhD neuropsychologists; a research pharmacist; and board certified specialists in cardiology, neuroradiology, dermatology,  ophthalmology and pulmonology.
